HUDC joins Greater London Authority’s Diwali Celebration 2014

HUDC team were delighted to be invited by HUDC’s Ambassador & GLA Assembly member – Navin Shah to attend a lavish Diwali event at City Hall, Central London on Friday 7th November 2014.

Despite the cold evening, the event were well-attended with several rep from voluntary and community organisations on personal invitation by Navin Shah, in recognition of their contribution to communities and the wider society. Also in attendance include: Nicky Gavron, Valerie Shawcross and Fiona Twycross There was a fantastic entertainment of music, singing and dancing, including a Indian Group of Bollywood dancers on an international tour – many of them have disabilities – thus breaking through the barrier and inspiring others.

Asif Iqbal MBE, President of Harrow United Deaf Club was pleased to be there, having used to work very closely with Greater London Authority over 14 years ago in one of his previous role. He explained: “Returning back to City Hall brought me with some fondest memories and enabled HUDC to meet people and networking. Nevertheless, it was good meeting with variety of people from all sectors, sharing experiences and raising HUDC’s profile.”
