HUDC’s International Festival – Sat 4th June 2016

HUDC International Festival

Harrow United Deaf Club are delighted to organise HUDC’s International Festival, bringing diverse communities together to celebrate their cultures. The event will take place on Saturday 4th June 2016 at 4pm – 9pm at Member’s Lounge and the Council Chambers of Harrow Council Civic Centre, Station Road, Harrow HA1 2XY.

HUDC is delighted that the event will be opened by The Mayor of Harrow and have an exciting programme on the day including a fantastic range of information and cultural stalls, guest speakers on international themes, performers/ show and mouth-watering international cuisines and many more.

In addition, Her Majesty The Queen will be celebrating her 90th Birthday on 21st April 2016 and there will be celebrations across the country in April, May and June 2016. HUDC will be marking  the occasion at HUDC’s International Festival.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to local communities together to celebrate our International festival; sharing information and experiences about our different cultures and way of life; and to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

Asif Iqbal MBE, President of Harrow United Deaf Club said “We are pleased that Harrow Mayor is opening the event. Together with Harrow Council signing up to BSL Charter last Oct, it is crucial to recognise the diversity and strength of our Deaf community and our  local communities of which came from a diverse background, cultures and way of life. HUDC believes in bringing people together, sharing experiences and celebrating the diversity.”

We are looking for the following people and hope you can help us:

  1. Food seller – open to small/ large business, someone like you to provide different cultural foods. Food seller must have licence to sell foods.
  2. Different information stalls ranging from information/ services from community organisations,
  3. Different cultural stall from local businesses selling cultural items eg: art, henna design, beauty items, jewellery, clothes etc.
  4. Performers/ artists who can do cultural show/performances for us to represent different cultures

The entrance to the event is FREE for all, please join us to celebrate by wearing cultural dress/ international costumes of your choice.
