Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government

Lord Ahmad said: “I warmly welcome Harrow United Deaf Club’s Outstanding work. The help and support you provide to a great number of deaf people across different faiths and ethnicities is inspirational. This has a huge impact – by giving people valuable opportunities to build friendships, share experiences and work towards a better, more fulfilling future.

The Government’s integration policy aims to break down barriers, emphasising local action and bringing people together; celebrating what we have in common – such as our shared values – rather than what divides us. It is fantastic to see these tenets echoed in Harrow United Deaf Club’s work. Since 2009, you have encouraged many people to participate in British Life, including by highlighting the importance of nurturing multi-faith understanding. These are great achievements, and I wish everyone involved in Harrow United Deaf Club’s work enduring success.”
