HADC’s BBQ, Saturday 6th July 2013, Bentley say Centre, 94 Uxbridge Road, Harrow at 3.30pm
HADC was delighted to have fantastic turn out of people for the event, with bouncy castle, police car and police officers available at their information stall to answer questions from our members.
We also had fantastic speakers and even more inspiring to hear the story of Sandra Duiguid who explained the up and down of running a deaf business and how her story was taken up by a national newspaper when she was forced to close down her business as Access to Work refused to fund the communication support that she much needed to communicate with hearing people she works with. Terra Agency also explained about their services, supporting people with employment and the challenge of running a deaf business. It was an icing on the cake when Nehal Bhogaita visited with her glamorous outfit, wearing the Miss India Worldwide crown. She shared her experiences on her journey from when she was selected as a regional finalist last October and made her way up to the national finalist and succeeded in an international event at Kuala Lampur, Malaysia where she was crowned as Miss India Worldwide. She was very popular with our guests who were in awe of her as they learnt about her achievements.
The weather was fantastically hot and sunny and the children enjoyed face painting and bouncy castle and rounded off with fantastic prizes won from raffles.
This was an opportunity for all especially families to get together, network aswell as to be inspired by our key note speakers.
