Dawn Butler, the MP who recently raised to the Members of Houses of Parliament for the BSL to be recognised. Dawn who can do basic sign language will be attending to give a presentation for the first time in any deaf community. Asif Iqbal MBE, President of Harrow and Brent United Deaf Club said: ” We are delighted to invited our new ambassador Dawn Butler MP will talk about her personal journey. Dawn is very much, looking forward to meeting you all.
Richard D France will be sharing his experience living with mental health issues. He wrote a book called “The Book of the Failed Jumper", based on his survival from a suicide attempt. His book had sold out very quickly and Richard often performs poems from his book. His second book released this year was called “The Rise After The Fall" which was based on his stay on the Bluebell Ward at the National Deaf Services in London. He is due to release another book in May 2017 about his personal journey through his mental health experiences.
There will be a presentation from Herbert Klein and Mike Tart who will be talking about the provision of services at the hospital for deaf adults.
