Asif Iqbal MBE, President of HUDC expressed his delights when the Queen’s New Year Honour List recently announced the following supporters of Harrow United Deaf Club have been named to receive Queen’s honour:

  • Dame Evelyn Glennie, Deaf Percussionist and is famed for her music despite being deaf, she wrote compositions and played across the world including London 2012 Paralympic Games. She is being honoured with a CH, “Companion of Honour".
  • Shezad Nawab, a Deaf Businessman and one of our sponsor for HUDC’s Christmas Party 2012.  He is being honoured with an MBE, “Member of British Empire" on the Queen’s New Year Honour list.

From everyone at Harrow United Deaf Club, we wanted to congratulate both Dame Evelyn and Shezad, on their wonderful achievements. “You have been an inspirational role model for many people especially deaf and hard of hearing people."
