Brent Deaf and CODA Youth Club

Harrow and Brent United Deaf Club would like to cordially invite you to attend and celebrate the launch opening party of the new Brent Deaf & CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) Youth Club in Chalkhill Community Centre,  113 Chalkhill Road, Wembley Park, Middx HA9 9FX, on Monday 30th January 2023 from 5pm to 7pm

The club aims to encourage deaf and hearing youths aged from 11 to 25 years old to:

  • participate in different activities and special event outings;
  • reduce isolation or loneliness;
  • meet new or old friends and integrate with all ethnicities and diversities within British values;
  • develop their confidence and understand the importance of youth wellbeing & Deaf identity;
  • improve communication skills including learning some British Sign Language (BSL) through talking with new friends;
  • develop social skills and experience team building.

This will help them to prepare for their own ambitions and future skills and help in their choice of careers.

Harrow & Brent United Deaf Club (HBUDC) runs on a Saturday evening once a month and is open to everyone, deaf or hearing, who is interested in learning or improving British Sign Language (BSL) skills. HBUDC encourages the positivity of healthy mindsets and good wellbeing and aims to reduce the loneliness and isolation of Deaf people by providing this opportunity to meet or make friends and develop social skills and improve confidence.

The club also provides access to up-to-date information on local events/activities within the community through running social events.

 See Harrow & Brent United Deaf Club in Facebook and Instagram for more details.

Please could you circulate this email to inform appropriate CODA members, professional staff and provide parent/guardians of deaf youth or Hearing children of Deaf Adults with the letter and membership forms which include emergency contact, medical contact, allergies, and parents/carers consent form to allow their children to participate in any activity and give photography/publicity permission.

We require confirmation of your attendance in advance so that we can prepare the food and resources for the number of people due to come. Places will be on a first come first served basis as there are limited spaces due to health and safety.
